The smallest sprocket is usually around one and a half inches in diameter. The biggest advantage of using a small sprocket in a bike transmission is that it provides more control over the bike. Most bike brands will not recommend using a small sprocket in their transmissions because of the risk of damaging the largest sprocket in the transmission.

Another kind of bicycle cassette is the freehub body style.11 speed 11 speed A freehub body style bicycle cassette has one or more free Hubs, which allow for easy, direct transmissions between the handle bars. A free hub body usually has one or more alloy sprockets. Freehub bodies are generally found in many high end bikes. One disadvantage to a freehub body style bicycle cassette is that they tend to be on the heavier side. These bicycles also tend to use higher quality components and they are typically quite durable.
