Some Useful Information About Picture Frame Synchronization

A frame is an independent digital data transfer unit within computer science and telecommunications. In packet switching systems, typically a frame transmits a single packet. In other wireless communications systems, the term frame is again a repeating structure behind time division multiplexing, supporting timing through the use of asset locking and signaling protocols. It is used as an entity by which to identify and control a logical entity. For example, in ATM, the machine number and the routing number are in the frame; and in MPLS, the MAC address and the hop count are in the frame.

As with Ethernet switches and ATM, the number of network packets sent or received on a single frame can be controlled by using a framing device. On the other hand, with Frame Relay Protocol, the number of outgoing packets on a given frame can also be controlled. In this case, two types of frames exist. One frame carries IP packets and another one contains local area network (LAN) packets. The first frame carries the header information; the second frame contains the IP header and the MAC address and so on. Since these frames are independent, they can carry IP packets and the reply to the IP packets and vice versa.

The number of IP packets or the packets carrying a payload can be determined by using different types of frame sizes: small size frame which has the smallest bandwidth and frame types such as the LSI, ISSI, Q-OPS and Q-PCI. Similarly, there are a number of frame sizes available. These sizes are differentiated based on their level of Latency: low latency frames have a low bandwidth and higher frame sizes; high latency frames have a high bandwidth but lower frame sizes.

Some common uses of Frame Relay Protocol are used in digital camera frames. This is because they are small and cheap way to transmit picture frames. There are three types of Frame Relay Protocol which are the Sender frame, the Receiver frame and the Packet Frame. Each of them has its own function. For example, the Sender frame translates the received data into picture frames.

Frame Synchronization is used to avoid interference between two frames. The method includes four steps. First of all a TCP connection is established between the sending and receiving system. Then a TCP-like protocol is used to create a link layer and a time division value is used to establish the time during which the data will be transmitted.

A third method called Matting method is used to send picture frames over a WAN. In this method the frame sizes are calculated by MatchedTCP message. The other method, known as Localock method solves the problem of large picture frames transferring over low bandwidth network. It enables transferring of large picture frames in the form of a JPEG or PNG file.
